Seven Years' War will be holding its first election. The SYW Board positions on the ballot will be President and Allied Nationality Commander (British, Prussian, etc.). These positions are voted upon for service in the even number years, i.e. 2010 - 2012. The other SYW Board positions Vice President, Quartermaster, Imperial Nationality Commander (French, Austrian, etc.) are not on the ballot as they are voted upon for service in the odd number years, i.e. 2011 - 2013.
Nomination deadline for President and Allied Nationality Commander is August 1, 2009. Nominations must be received from the Unit Commander. Each unit is allowed one nomination per Board position on the ballot. Nominations must be received in writing either via email, please click here to contact us or via USPS sent to SYW, Inc., PO Box 382, Ada, MI 49301. If sent via regular mail, it must be postmarked 8/1/09. Nominations past the 8/1/09 deadline will not be accepted.
The election will take place by vote of the unit commanders present or by proxy (unit representative must be present to cast vote, a non-unit member can not cast the vote for another unit) at Koh-Koh-Mah, September 19-20, 2009.
As per the SYW Constitution the election process and proxy is defined as such: “Each Full Member unit receives one vote to be cast by the Full Member Unit's Officer in Command. In the event the Officer in Command is not able to be present to cast the vote, then the Board of SYW must receive in writing who from his member unit is empowered to cast the vote on behalf of the Officer in Command. In the event such written empowerment is not received then the unit's vote will be counted as an abstention.”
The deadline is September 1, 2009 to receive written notification of proxy. Proxies may be sent via email please click here to contact us or via USPS sent to SYW Inc., PO Box 382, Ada, MI 49301. If sent regular mail, it must be postmarked by 9/1/09. Proxies submitted after the 9/1/09 deadline will not be accepted. Only those units who have voting member status in Seven Years' War and are in good standing will have an election vote. A simple majority will carry the vote. |
