In addition to the awards ceremony and dancing on Saturday night at the SYW Gala, SYW will be holding an auction. The proceeds will help off-set the cost of hosting the Convention and Gala. If you have an item you would like to donate to the auction, please contact Stephanie Rensland at stephanierensland @ gmail.com (no spaces). Donated items are to be period correct. If you would like to add something to the auction but are not planning on attending the convention, let us know and we'll see if there's a way we can get it there. Greetings all,
I just wanted to remind everyone that today is the last day that rooms will be held for the Seven Years War Annual Convention and Gala at the Spring Mill Inn. The reservation line is open until 8:00pm EST, so please get your reservations in as quickly as possible in order to get a room. For those of you planning on attending the Convention and Gala, please find the menu for Saturday night included, along with additional information about the event:
Saturday Gala Dinner:
Entrees:
Baked ham
Roast beef
Baked chicken
Veggies:
Whipped potatoes

California blend
Corn
Salad bar, rolls and desserts
The cost for the meal is $16.25 for adults; $8.25 for children, which must be pre-paid by Feb. 1st. Checks should be made payable to Seven Years War. Meals not paid for prior to registration must be paid for at the time of registration on Friday evening. Individuals are responsible for the cost of their meals. Also, the schedule for Sunday will be brief but include both a board meeting and a business meeting before dismissal. The board meeting will occur around 7:30 during breakfast, and then the SYW business meeting will commence at 9:00am. The business meeting and convention will conclude at 11:00am, at which point attendees will be able to check out if they have not already done so.

After a lot of effort on both ends, Stephanie requested that I send the following update on the registration situation:
Due to technical difficulties with the online rooming reservation system with Spring Mill Inn, which they have diligently worked on to fix but are unable to do so at this time, SYW members attendin the Congress and Gala Feb. 3rd-5th, 2012 are advised to make their room reservations with the central reservation desk for Indiana State Parks. Please contact central reservation at 877-563-4371. Please provide the customer service representative with the group ID code of 2312SY when making your reservation as this is connected to the block of rooms set aside for the SYW Congress and Gala. Thank you for your patience while we were working with Spring Mill Inn to resolve this matter. SYW and Spring Mill Inn want to assure everyone attending has the best possible experience.

Additionally, Brian Wilson advised me to send out one more reminder about the Purple Heart awards. If there are any more nominations for this award, please send them either to Brian or to myself as soon as possible. We don't want to leave out any worthy recipients!

2012 Congress and Gala Information |

Greetings all!
I hope you all had a good Christmas season! On this eve of the new year I thought it fitting to send you an update on our next upcoming event, the annual SYW Congress and Gala. As a reminder the SYW Congress & Gala is February 3rd – 5th. We are currently working to establish an online room registration for everyone to use. The registration deadline is January 18th. I will send out another e-mail to let all of you know once the online registering option is available. Room types will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please do not contact Spring Mills State Park directly to reserve your room, as this affects our contract. Please use the online registration option, which will be sent out as soon as it's ready - hopefully within the first few days of the new year, so be on the lookout for that after the weekend.
This year we are thrilled to have Beth Gilgun and David Blackmoore as our key speakers for the Congress. Beth Gilgun, author of "Tidings from the Eighteenth Century," will be presenting topics related to women of the time period. David Blackmoore, former curator of equestrian militaria at the Tower of London, will be speaking on British Military Combat Culture of the 17th and 18th centuries. We are very excited at this opportunity to hear from Beth and David! Don't miss the chance to learn from these experts - mark your calendars now!
Finally, every time I send out e-mails roughly 30 of them are returned to me. It would be very beneficial to both your units and myself if the unit commanders/contact people could review and update e-mail addresses of all members. This information will allow me to better reach everyone and keep all members up to date. Thank you!
