French and Indian War Event Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis Illinois May 15 & 16, 2010
Friday: Registration, billeting, setting up camp
Saturday, May 15
0830: Officer Call in the Officer’s Quarters
1000: Event opens to visitors
11:00: Parley with the Native Allies (open to the public)
13:00: Discussion of Women’s Health Issues (open to the public in the Visitor Center Theater)
1400: Battle at the Fort (open to the public)
1600: Events closes for public
1642: Dessert contest in the Fort (period desserts made on-site and made off-site)
1900: La Sodalt Taverne opens with Celtic Music
2200: La Soldat Taverne closes for quiet hours
Sunday, May 16
0830: Officers Call in the Officer’s Quarters
0900: Sunday Service in the Chapel
1000: Mass Colors and Memorial Service (open to the public)
1100: Battle at the Fort (open to the public)
Directions: From North and West: Take Highway 57 to 10 miles south of Marion, IL (62959). Head East on Higway 24 to Metropolis, IL. At the top of the Ramp, take a right. It will be about 45 minutes from Marion to Metropolis. From the South and East: Take 24 West, through Paducah, KY. You will cross over the Ohio River and take the first exit in Illinois, at Metropolis. At the top of the ramp, take a left. Take the Metropolis Exit and head into town. When you pass the second stop light and Mc Donalds, get in the left lane. You will three entrances on your left to Fort Massac State Park. If make it to Big Johns grocery, you went one entrance too far. If you are French or French Allies, please let us know if you need room in the fort to stay in. . It has been determined that the talk on Women's Health issues will be open to the public. But, we would like to invite all the living historian ladies participating to refreshments in La Soldat Taverne after the talk for a private afternoon resprite.
